Guests can wander over to the ruins, hidden just off Cottle Church road, adjacent to the Mount Nevis Hotel. Thomas John Cottle, once President of Nevis and a lawyer, built this Anglican Church in 1824 for his family and slaves to worship together. The church was never consecrated, since it was illegal at the time for slaves to worship. The structure was severely damaged in 1974 by an earthquake and again in 1989 during Hurricane Hugo. The stone building still provides an incredible glimpse into our history. A great chance to step back in time and also a popular wedding site.
